You Know What It’s Time To Retire?
…trying to retire the term “douchebag”.
I’m sorry to inform you of this, everyone, but after years of extensive scientific analysis and research, it has been conclusively proven that there is simply no other word in the language of man that can replicate the perfect linguistic and phonetic harmony of “douchebag” as a blanket term to describe people who are terrible.
Different bloggers, journalists and media people have tried to do this several times a year for like four years now, loudly opining the ubiquity of the word and unpleasantness of its origins, demanding there be some suitable replacement. But it’s an impossible proposition, so why don’t we all just let it go? Saying you’re putting “douchebag” to bed for good is like publicly promising never to write about Paris Hilton again. It’s kind of pointless, and you just sort of end up looking stupid in the end.
