Douchebag of the Week (Apr. 11-17)
You had to wonder what might happen to good ol’ Jake DeSantis, the executive vice president in A.I.G.’s Financial Products Division who got the New York Times to publish his resignation letter last month under the title, “Dear A.I.G., I Quit!” After Jake tried to clear his name in a little less than 1,500 words and pledge to donate his post-taxes $742,006.40 to charity, what did the man do after telling his employer where to stick it?
Well, he’s taking a couple weeks to hang around the office, and hoping that the Wall Street Journal buries the lede in a story about AIG Financial Products head like it did last Monday:

Overall, Mr. Pasciucco [the unit’s current head] said, about a third of the resignations were from the financial-products office in London. He said that Jake DeSantis, an executive who announced his resignation in a New York Times op-ed piece amid the controversy, is still on the job short term as the commodity business he works on is resolved. AIG didn’t make him available for comment.

The original letter itself was self-righteous and bullshit enough, but the idea that DeSantis is still hanging around tying up loose ends defeats the whole “I Quit” thing and can only lead us to conclude that his position is safe as a genuine douchebag.
